The Renovation Plan at the Sydney Home Show

14 May 2010

I went to the Sydney Home Show at the Darling Harbour Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sydney yesterday.
There were 3 halls of information and products on display.

Rain Water Tanks

All the regular things like kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, finance, paint, roofing, windows etc.

The green and sustainable living products section grows bigger each year.

It covers everything from rainwater collection water tanks to insulation to solar energy options (there are plenty), solar inverters, solar hot water, window treatments such as blinds and screens and home energy management systems to turn lights and power on and off  and so save energy.

One idea which I used in the renovation of an investment apartment some years ago was to re-enamel the bath, hand basin and even ceramic tiles with a spray on paint system. It allowed me to change the outdated green bathroom to an all white bathroom for around 50% of the cost of new products. The result was brilliant and immediately added value to the property. The company on display was www.bathroomwerx.com

Some other interesting design ideas came with fireplaces – one hanging from the roof

And another one with rocks instead of timber in a gas fireplace!

Hanging Fire Place

There is so much information and so many ideas located in the one place when these types of exhibitions are held.
It is something that anyone interested in building, home renovation, home extensions and home improvement should attend in their cities.
